An Innovative Teen Program Fast-Tracking Student...

Do you want to give students a competitive edge for the future? If you’re working with families of teens or supporting students who want to explore the world beyond the classroom, there’s a program for teens you’ll want to explore!

Today on the blog, I’m excited to share a future-focused opportunity for students. It’s called TKS — short for The Knowledge Society — and it’s designed to help curious, ambitious teens build the mindset and skill set they need to make an impact.

Let’s take a look at how this teen program works and how it could support the students in your school community!

What is The Knowledge Society (TKS)?

TKS is a global innovation program for students ages 13–17. It’s for teens who are excited about solving big problems and want to explore emerging technologies like AI, space tech, biotech, and climate innovation. The goal of the program is to help students become the next generation of leaders, scientists, and entrepreneurs.

Regular readers of the blog might recognize the name TKS. I’ve featured them on the blog before since I’m always on the lookout for high-quality learning opportunities that help students shine. I’m excited to revisit what they’re offering this year and share how they continue to evolve and support teens who want to make an impact.

Unlike some more traditional programs for teens, TKS isn’t about tests or textbooks. Instead, students work on hands-on projects. They receive mentorship from real-world experts, and connect with like-minded peers from around the world.

A Teen Program Built for the Next Generation of Innovators

The TKS program is specifically for middle and high school students. Students learn how to think like innovators and tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Through structured sessions, project-based learning, and collaboration with global peers, participants get to:

  • Build a portfolio of impressive projects
  • Explore and apply skills in cutting-edge fields
  • Receive mentorship from professionals at leading organizations
  • Become confident in their ability to solve complex problems

TKS creates a supportive environment where students can stretch their thinking. Teens can explore new ideas, and build a skill set that goes beyond the classroom.

Empowering Students with Projects

One of the most exciting parts of TKS is the way it puts students in the driver’s seat. Instead of working through hypothetical case studies or simulations, they work on real problems that matter to them. What does this look like in action?

From climate solutions to medical innovations, students tackle ambitious topics related to their interests. Students can build projects that can make a difference outside of the traditional walls of the classroom. Many participants finish the program with a portfolio of work that is both professional and purposeful. They can share their experiences (and portfolios) in future interviews or college applications.

TKS alumni have already gone on to do super impressive things. Some have interned or collaborated with organizations like Google, OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT), and the United Nations. Other students have even launched startups backed by top-tier investors.

Global and Flexible Format for Learning

TKS is available in two formats: in-person and virtual. The in-person experience is available in six major cities. And the virtual program opens up access for students around the world.

The flexibility of formats means families and educators can choose what works best for their schedules. No matter which format students choose, they can plug into a global network of mentors and peers. That global connection helps teens explore new perspectives and feel part of something bigger than themselves.

No matter the format, teens are immersed in a dynamic learning environment where they feel supported and challenged.

More Than College Prep

Sometimes when we talk about preparing students for their future, the conversation is just about college readiness. TKS goes a step further to help teens build the mindset and habits that support long-term success.

TKS helps students:

  • Strengthen their problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Grow their confidence in navigating uncertainty
  • Learn how to communicate complex ideas clearly
  • Discover the power of networking and mentorship

A Community for Students

The TKS program fosters a strong community of learners. For many teens who participate, TKS becomes a place where they’re surrounded by others students who match their intellectual curiosity and drive.

Is there a teen in your life who is eager for more challenge, more creativity, more connection? TKS might be the right fit. Applications are open now, and spots are limited.

Whether you’re an educator who supports student enrichment programs or a parent looking for something meaningful for your teen, this is a great opportunity to explore. You can also share this opportunity with families who may want to get their teens involved in something unique this year. Find out more by heading to their special landing page!
