Out by me the weather is warmer, school has just let out, and the summer spreads before me like a picnic blanket.
Today I’ll share a bit of inspiration for the poets out there, rooted in the tradition of Margaret Wise Brown’s The Important Book:
The important thing
about a poem
is that you write it.
It conjures up dreams,
images,
puzzles you sometimes,
turns your head
a different direction to say
look!
See this thing?
See what you’re missing?
See how I’ve made you
observe the world
in new eyes?
But the important thing
about a poem
is that you write it.
So what have you observed, thought, wondered, or imagined today? Share a link to your post, and don’t forget to read and comment on the work of others!
